Over the past year, in4systems and Orchard have worked with the Interaction Lab at City University London to re-design Promaster’s mobile solution. Through a partnership working approach with customers, this exercise has provided a great insight into the challenges that users face in their day to day roles.
When in4systems was acquired by Orchard, one of the first tasks identified was to take a fresh look at Promaster’s mobile solution, how it was used, and how the look and feel could be updated.
As part of its ongoing investment in in4systems and its products, Orchard created a dedicated Mobile Development Team to deliver the project.
The next phase of the project was to start working with the Interaction Lab at City University London who specialise in User Centred Design (UCD) and User Experience (UX). This involved looking at the challenges to mobile working that surveyors experience everyday
Outcomes and benefits – so far
The User Centred Design approach to developing Promaster Mobile 4 has resulted in a mobile solution that is geared to customer’s requirements and has resulted in a simpler, more intuitive design.
“For me the interface was easy to use and didn’t take long to become accustomed with. The interaction, process flow and accessibility of different elements was quite simple and enabled useful data input and storage via the stylus. The prototype offered a tangible insight into the design concept and user interface of the mobile application.”
