Job Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Product Management Team at our successful software company. The Product Management Team at Orchard drives the commercial direction of our products for their segmentation, and they are ultimately responsible for the success of those products.  This includes sharing responsibility for achieving annual targets with the sales department as well as setting out the vision for longer-term growth.

You will be responsible for creating truly innovative products that use cutting edge technologies that transcend the social housing market to make out products market-leading. 

This role involves understanding our customers, analysing competitive intelligence and spotting industry trends, as well as setting strategy and owning and managing the product roadmap for their segmentation.  An element of creativity is important to add a “wow” factor and set us apart from the competition.

Creating and communicating an exciting future for our products is a key element of this role.

The Product Management Team requires a person with certain skills and traits including a strong focus on strategic and commercial thinking, and an ability to have a command of the product sector/domain as well as the ability to command the attention of your audience whether that be customer meetings, internal training or presenting to the Executive Team, the ability to say ‘no’ or ‘yes’ with reasons, great delegation skills, the ability to communicate the same message to different audiences and excellent listening skills. 

Principal Responsibilities

Strategic

  • Creating and owning a commercially-driven and innovative roadmap for their product area to gain and retain satisfied customers
  • Innovation and thought-leadership, internally and externally
  • Keen interest and understanding of emerging technologies
  • Identifying business opportunities and producing business cases
  • Ensuring their product area is successful internally and externally
  • Contributing to the overall product strategy and ensuring developments are aligned to this strategy
  • Evangelising the vision for their product area, both internally and at public events

Operational

  • Keeping abreast of business, customer and competitor knowledge and gaining insights from it
  • Launching new products, driving sales and marketing to sell and operational teams to deliver
  • Ensuring that our ability to demo and sell our products is top class
  • Contributing to setting annual sales targets for each product area
  • Educating sales and marketing and enabling them to achieve commercial targets
  • Recommending pricing strategies
  • Prioritising development and reporting progress against the roadmaps
  • Helping triage and review new ideas and customer requests
  • Recommending and helping implement process and framework improvements
